Dorothy Furtney

Dorothy Jean Furtney, age 85 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, June 25, 2020, at her residence.

She retired after many years as a librarian for the W.G. Rhea Library in Paris.  Dorothy loved her animals, especially her cats.  She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.  In her latter years, Dorothy’s son, “Bubba” dedicated his life to caring for her until his death.  She was a beautiful person who loved the Lord and will be missed by many.

Dorothy was born June 20, 1935, in Anniston, AL, to the late Iva Fleming Bryant and the late Mary Bell Strickland.

She was married September 22, 1973, to Willis Keith Furtney, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2008.

She is survived by three stepchildren, Melissa Furtney of Spokane, WA, David Furtney of Oakley, CA, and Keith Furtney of Laclede, ID; five grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Durbin of Montgomery, AL, James “Jim” (Kristin) Robustelli of California, Carrie Durbin of California, James (Heidi) Durbin of California, and Josh (Deanna) Salvage of California; three great grandchildren; very special caregiver, Amanda Lackey; and special friends, Tammy Patterson, Susan Knox, Cindy Lampkins, and Brandi Patterson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Doyce Lee “Bubba” Durbin and William Charles “Willy” Durbin.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Saturday, June 27, 2020, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Saturday, June 27, 2020, at11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Home, with Jack Thacker officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Durbin, James Robustelli, Marty Patterson, and Brandon Lackey.

Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery in Paris, TN.
