Donald W.  Simmons, age 68 of Paris, TN died Monday September 1, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

He was married June 27, 1966 to Esther Crawford Simmons and she survives.

Don was born August 13, 1946 in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late Chester Simmons and the late Lucille Rhinehart Simmons.

Don retired after 35 years as a minister with the Church of the Nazarene.    After retiring he worked part time at Promise Land Book Store.     He was also a certified Square-foot gardening instructor.   Don was a life-long Alabama Crimson Tide Fan.   He was a member of Dover First Church of the Nazarene.

Besides his wife, Don is survived by his Mother-in-law, Margaret Moody of Paris, TN;  Daughter, Sharla Smith of Paris, TN;  Two sisters, Betty Jane (Coleman) Campbell of Tuscaloosa, AL,  Janet Sue (Norman) Patrick of Tuscaloosa, AL;  Two Brothers, Billy (Virginia) Simmons of Alexander City, AL,  Tommy (Sarah) Simmons of Duncanville, AL;  Brother-in-law, Paul Crawford of Paris, TN;  Three Grandchildren, John Kelly Teague of Nashville, TN,  Christian Lee Smith of Cookeville, TN, and Ali Renee’ Smith of Cookeville, TN;  and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN.    Visitation will be Thursday September 5, 2014 from 4 - 7 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene in Paris, TN with a Service to be held at 7:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene.   Cremation will follow the service and burial will be later in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville, TN.

Barry Hart will officiate the service.      Memorials may be made to: Dover First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 1335 Donelson Parkway, Dover, TN  37058.
