Dewey Odell Ward, age 89 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, August 12, 2021, at his residence.
He retired after several years as a truck driver for Time DC. He formerly operated Ward’s Salvage Yard. Odell enjoyed riding his motorcycle everyday and loved his family, who to him was everything. He was Baptist in belief.
Odell was born January 12, 1932, to the late Dewey Perry Ward and the late Bessie Marie Berry Ward.
He was married January 17, 1953, to Addie Jane Vaughn Ward, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1997.
He is survived by three children, Sandy (Danny) McCaig of Paris, Bobby Joe (Lisa) Ward of Dexter, MO, and Barbara (Jack) McDonald of Paris; three sisters, Carolyn Ward of Paris, Joy (Bob) Webb of Springville, TN, and Doris Ward of Paris; 11 grandchildren, Teresa (Steve) Marshall-Ayers, David (Sandy) Ward, Tonya (Robert) Ferrell, Meredith (Bryan) Scott, Savanna Watkins (Chris Brewer), Corey (Verla) Hart, Angela French, Amanda Ward, Ronnie Ward, Billy (Tara) Ward, and Kayla (Wes) Carter; several great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Carol Goode; one son, Glen Thomas Ward; two sisters, Mava Ward and Berthal Kline; five brothers, Thomas Ward, L.M. Ward, Perry Ward, Jerry Ward, and Carlos Ward; one granddaughter, Rhonda Stubblefield’ and one great-great grandchild, Ruby Ferrell.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Randy Miller officiating.
The family requests for masks to be worn and social distancing to be observed by those in attendance during both visitation and the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Ward, Billy Ward, Corey Hart, Bryan Scott, Chris Brewer, and Robert Ferrell. Named as honorary pallbearers are grandchild, David Ward; and sons-in-law, Danny McCaig, Steve Goode, and Jack McDonald.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
