Delores Jefferson Russell

Delores Jefferson Russell, age 65, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

She was a member of Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottage Grove, TN. She retired from Nissan in Smyrna, TN after 17 years and had worked as a cosmetologist for 10 years. Delores loved helping others and she never met a stranger. She especially enjoyed cooking food for and delivering it to the homeless and helping them in any way she could. Even after becoming ill, she still continued her ministry for the homeless. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and growing plants. 

Delores was born December 3, 1958, in Chicago, IL to the late John Earl Jefferson and the late Minnie Lou Tharpe Grant. 

She was married on May 1, 1982, to Steve Allen Russell and he survives of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by two sons, Steven Russell and Keith Russell, both of Paris, TN; one sister, Yvonne Jefferson of Arizona; one brother, Larry (Barbara) Jefferson of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.

Besides her parents, Delores was also preceded in death by; three brothers, Earl Jefferson, Harry Jefferson, and James Jefferson; and two sisters-in-law.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation will be at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church on October 15th from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottage Grove, TN with Kenneth Humphreys officiating.

Entombment will follow in Rose Lawn Mausoleum in Paris, TN.

Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
