David Dale Merrell

David Dale Merrell, age 61 of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at his residence.

He was a 1979 graduate of Henry County High School.  He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Murray State University where he graduated with a master’s degree in English and philosophy.  David was a U.S. Army veteran where he worked as an air traffic controller.  After his years of service, he began a career in education as an English instructor for an art institute.  He loved reading, enjoyed watching DVDs, and backpacking.

David was born May 1, 1961, in Dearborn, MI, to the late Chester Merrell and the late Frances Smith Merrell.

He is survived by his two sisters, Susie Jackson of Oshkosh, WI, and Becky Merrell of Buchanan. TN; his brother, Jason Merrell of Buchanan, TN; his nephew, Joshua Jackson of Oshkosh, WI; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David M. Jackson.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated with a private family service to be held.
