David Rook, age 64, of Cottage Grove, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his residence in Cottage Grove, TN.
David was a lifelong farmer who raised beef cattle and row cropped. He retired from Ellis Heating Company after over 40 years of service as a pipefitter. He also served as a District 1 County Commissioner in Weakley County for 16 years. He was a member of Palmersville Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. The most important things to him were church and his family.
David was born February 10, 1953, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Milburn Rook and the late Marie Carson Rook.
He was married April 21, 1979 to Vickie Collins Rook, who survives, of Cottage Grove, TN.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lindsey (Patrick) Gordon of Dresden, TN, and Emily (Joseph) Dunn of Dresden, TN; one son, Doug (Marla) Rook of Palmersville, TN; two sisters, Omega Rook of Paris, TN, and Deb Holt of Clarksville, TN; eight grandchildren, Carson Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Lucy Gordon, Taylor Gordon, Abby Gordon, Rhett Dunn, Addie Rook, and Mason Rook; and in-laws, Clarence and Phyllis Collins of Dresden, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Chester Martin “Marty” Rook.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and continue Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Corey Sawyers and Bobby Bennett officiating.
Pall bearers will be Lloyd Bell, Greg Bell, Jerry Rachels, Ricky McClain, Mark Morton, Scott Holt, Glen Bell, and Buddy Bell. Named as Honorary Pallbearers are Garrett Johnson, Mason Rook, Rhett Dunn, and Travis Blankenship.
Burial will follow in Palmersville Cemetery in Palmersville, TN.
