David Eric “Dave” Launer, a man of faith, age 70 of Henry, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his residence.
He worked for many years in telecommunications for the Southwestern Bell Systems Telephone Company and the McAllen, TX School District, and had been enjoying retirement for about 6 years in Tennessee.
He was born January 20, 1953, in Austin, TX, to the late George Launer and the late Emily Wagner Launer.
He was married December 13, 1997, to Joni Boman Launer, who survives, of Henry, TN.
Dave loved hunting and fishing, and he always had a dog beside him as his sidekick. He loved dogs and was almost never seen without one by his side. He also loved reading, especially Tom Clancy novels. One thing he passed on to all the kids was his love of shooting, and the many memories teaching them at the gun range. Dave and his wife loved watching TV, especially the show Walker, Texas Ranger. They also loved taking their time with their morning coffee once they had retired.
Dave was always happy, always cracking a joke, and always being the one to make others feel better. He was also a wonderful father, and especially a great “girl Dad.” He never sweated the small stuff, and it was all small stuff – that was his attitude. He also loved cars, particularly sports cars and taught his kids the “how-to’s” and basics like changing a battery and a tire. Dave was also a master at smoking meat, particularly brisket, and he loved taking care of his family in those ways. His absolute joy in life was his wife, always putting her first, always holding the door for her, and always looking at her like it was the first day they met.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by three daughters, Jennifer Brooke Launer, Marie Clover (Justin) Bozalina, and Jodi Boman (John David) Brassard, Jr.; one son, Parker John (Kelly Katheryn DiLorenzo) Batt; two sisters, Janice Morin and Catherine Thompson; one brother, John Launer; and two grandchildren, Quentin Michael Bozalina and Julian Dax Bozalina.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Launer.
