David Gillespie

David Gillespie, age 70, of Paris, Tenn, died Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a US Army Veteran.  He formerly co-owned Gillespie Motor Company with his brother, Jack and was the current owner and operator of J & J Sales and Rentals. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

David was born September 9, 1946 in Paris, TN, the son of the late Carl Gillespie and the late Viola Davis Gillespie.

David was married on December 28, 1968 to Linda Holland Gillespie of Paris, and she survives.  He is also survived by his one daughter, Jane Ellen (Theo) Paraschos of Charleston, S.C.;  one son, John David (Tiffan) Gillespie of Nashville, Tenn; two brothers, Jack (Betty) Gillespie of Paris, Tenn, and Jimmy (Judy) Gillespie of Huntsville, Ala;  three grandchildren, Nikos Paraschos, Rhodes Paraschos, and Hudson Gillespie; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, David was also preceded in death by sisters, Carlene Patterson, and Jo Larsen.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, Tenn, where the visitation will be 12 – 2 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2016. The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2016, with Dr. Robert D. Martin officiating.   Pallbearers will be Jim Bundy, Terry Murphree, Bo Caldwell, Sam Knott, Curtis Jones, Gary Benton, Terry Carter, and Jerry Shankle.

Interment will be at New Beaverdam Cemetery in Buchanan, Tenn.
