Dan Paschall, age 77, of Country Club Loop in Paris, died Monday, January 2, 2023, at his residence.
Dan was born September 26, 1945, in Paris to the late Winfred “Red” Paschall and the late Doris Marie “Tootsie” Wilson Paschall. He grew up in Puryear, TN and was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. A graduate of Puryear High School (‘63), Dan served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He married Bettye Sturdivant Paschall on November 1, 1996, and she survives him in Paris.
Upon retiring from a long and distinguished career in the brick industry in 2000, he transformed part of his garage into a woodworking shop. Building hundreds of wooden, hand-crafted cars for the Operation Christmas Child project, Dan also produced dozens of pieces of wooden furniture for family and friends.
While he enjoyed time with his coffee group, playing cards with his buddies or a round of golf, spending time with his family was his passion. In addition to annual trips with Bettye to Florida and various tours around the country, Dan cherished time spent with his 12 grandchildren. He made it a priority to attend as many ballgames and musical events as possible. More recently, he looked forward to going to graduations, a wedding, and Mississippi State football games. If he wasn’t attending their events, he was taking them fishing or on golf cart rides.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by five children, Julie (James) Taylor of Jackson, TN, Shane (Monica) Paschall of Milan, TN, Lori (Steve) Rowlett Parker of Murray, KY, Leigha (Bryan) Rowlett Reddick of Paris, and Lisa Rowlett Nichols (friend Timm Sanders) of Paris; a sister, Katie (Russell Budd) Paschall of Naples, FL; a brother, Rex (June Rasmussen) Paschall of Bristol, TN; a sister-in-law, Judy Paschall of Hazel, KY; twelve grandchildren, Blake (Melanie) Spurgeon, Shelby Spurgeon, Matthew Spurgeon, Drew (Holly) Taylor, Alli Paschall, Luke Paschall, Dylan Thomas, Emma Grace Thomas, Kinsley Nichols, Reese Reddick, Brooke Parker, and Ryder Reddick; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Paschall and Jim Paschall.
