Dan Murphey

Dan Murphey, age 73, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his residence in Paris, Tenn.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Youth Sunday School  teacher.  He was a Longtime Paris Optimist Club Member where he also helped with their Boy Scout Troop.  Dan was a former member and Chairman of the Henry County School Board and former Chairman of the TN School Board Association.   He was the Current President of Clifty Farm Country Meats where he began work with his father in 1964 when it was a small family business and worked there for over 50 years.  Clifty Farm has grown to be a Nationally and Internationally recognized company.  Dan was also know for his Clifty Farm TV commercials filmed with County Music Stars like Grandpa Jones and Roy Acuff but his favorite ones were filmed with his family in his home on the farm.  He also served on the Board of The National Country Ham Association.   Dan was a former Pilot and enjoyed flying.  He also enjoyed cattle farming on his family farm but mostly, he enjoyed being with his Grandchildren in his home or on the farm and also watching any of their ballgames.

Dan was born December 19, 1942 in Detroit, MI to the late Truman Murphey and the late Agatha Donaldson Murphey.

Dan was married on September 7, 1963 to Jane Burnett Murphey and she survives.  He is also survived by his one Daughter,  Beth Harrod of Paris, Tenn;  one Son,  Michael (Susannah) Murphey of Paris, Tenn;  one Sister,  Marilyn (Bob) Beach of Springfield, Mo;  nine Grandchildren,  Shaun Harrod, Jordan Harrod, Davy Harrod, Aiden Harrod, Janna Harrod, Jesse Harrod, Sam Murphey, Ben Murphey, and Emma Jane Murphey;  and Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Besides his Parents, he was also preceded in death by a Son, David Joseph Murphey.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  Visitation will be at First Baptist Church from  1 – 3 pm Sunday, May 29, 2016 with the Funeral Service at First Baptist Church at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 29, 2016.

Dr. Trent Bullock will officiate and Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Shaun Harrod, Jordan Harrod, Davy Harrod, Aiden Harrod, Jesse Harrod, Sam Murphey, and Ben Murphey.

There will be a Private Family Interment in the Murphey Family Cemetery on the family farm south of Paris, Tenn.
