Dan Brown Paschall

Dan Brown Paschall, age 91 of Cottage Grove, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his residence.

Dan was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Cottage Grove Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Dan spent many years as a community servant and as an elected official, being a part of the Henry County Commission and its budget committee, the Henry County School Board, the First Trust and Savings Board of Directors, and the State of Tennessee’s Soil and Conservation Board. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club, serving as club president, and sponsoring a Rotary Scholarship for low-income students attending college. He was an active member of the Paris Henry County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded “Man of Year” in 2004. Dan had previously served as President of the Farm Bureau Association and won its Distinguished Service award in 2015. Dan invested many hours with the youth in Henry County being a Little League coach, and sponsoring the award for the Highest Daily Weight Gain in the Steer Show of the Henry County Fair’s Jr. Livestock Program. He also gave of his time by being a former member of the Paris Henry County Rescue Squad. His servanthood to his country was shown by being a US Army veteran.

Born May 22, 1932 in Cottage Grove, Dan was the son of the late Alton Paschall and the late Gussie Brown Paschall.

Dan married Betty Callicott Paschall in 1955, and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2021.

Survivors include his two children, Pam (Mike) Hutson, and Andy (Becky) Pachall, both of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren, Syd (Mallorie) Hutson, Seth (Beth) Hutson, Sam (Hannah) Hutson, Hunter (Erica) Paschall, and Griffin (Mary Kate) Paschall; and seven great grandchildren, Hayden Hutson, Ella Hutson, Ruthie Hutson, Hayes Hutson, Wade Hutson, Hadley Kate Paschall, and Alton Paschall.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 4 - 7 pm and continue Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 12 - 2 pm. His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Humphreys officiating.

Dan’s grandsons and a great grandson will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery.
