Dan Broughton

Dan Lee Broughton, age 81 of Big Sandy, TN, died Monday, January 27, 2020, at his residence.

He retired after many years as a heavy equipment operator in Indiana. Dan was the owner and operator of Stump Water Camp in Big Sandy for over 30 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and his dog Sam.  Dan was active in the Masonic Lodge in Thorntown, IN.  He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris.

Dan was born April 27, 1938, in Liberty, OH, to the late Orville Broughton and to the late Velma Robinson Broughton.

He was married October 11, 1958, to Shirley McCully Broughton, who survives, of Big Sandy, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by three daughters, Lee (John) Warner of Bloomington, IN, Chris Ulery of Elkhart, IN, and Kathy (Joseph) Keith of Thorntown, IN; one son, Danny (Veronica) Broughton of Pittsboro, IN; one brother, Don (Mary) Broughton of Cadiz, KY; 14 grandchildren, Charles (Abby) Gardner, Danielle Gardner, John Warner, Adam Warner, Katy (Jason) Barhydt, Jesse (Lauren) Ulery, Cale (Zachary) Ulery, Casey Ulery, Aly (Doug Hickman) Keith, Bailey (John) Padgett, Tucker Keith, Teddi Keith, Lillian Broughton, and Carly Broughton; and 11 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Downing officiating.   Cremation will follow the service.

Grandchildren are named as honorary pallbearers.
