Dan Brooks

Dan Lawrence Brooks, age 87 of Puryear, TN, died Saturday, July 17, 2021, at AHC of Paris.

He retired from Consolidated Aluminum in IL where he worked in maintenance. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served in the Korean War.  Dan and his wife enjoyed helping others in need through yard sales they held at their home in Puryear.  He enjoyed a good conversation with people and never met a stranger. He was a member of Puryear Baptist Church.

Dan was born November15, 1933 in Como, TN, to the late William Edward Brooks and the late Willie Novella Lawrence Brooks.

He was married on November 25, 1980, to Juanita Jackson McWherter Brooks who preceded him in death on July 23, 2019.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Steve) Ryan of Granite City, IL, and Andrea (Marc) Duval of Jefferson City, MO; two sons, D.J. (Monica) Brooks of Caseyville, IL, and Robert Brooks of MO; two stepsons, Eugene McWherter of Murray, KY, and Paul McWherter of Murray KY; 20 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Donna McWherter; one stepson, David McWherter; one sister, Christine Griffin; and one brother, William Earnest Brooks.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN. Visitation will be Thursday July 22, 2021, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday July 22, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Eugene McWherter and Mike Rhodes officiating.

Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
