Christine Brogdon, age 83, of Puryear, TN, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at her residence in Puryear, TN.
Christine worked at Rich’s Electric in Fairview, TN, for several years as a spot welder. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and crafts such as sewing and ceramics. She loved to cook and host and entertain at family get- togethers. She attended Sulphur Well Church of Christ.
She was born June 26, 1933, to the late Thomas Meadows and the late Alberta Davis Meadows.
Christine was married January 30, 1971, to Elwood Brogdon, who survives, of Puryear, TN.
Along with her husband, she is survived by five daughters, DeEdra Dawn Kenney of Panama City Beach, FL, Shelia Faye Brogdon of Nashville, TN, Linda Sue Brogdon of Smyrna, TN, Sherry Ann (Darrell) Elkins of Franklin, TN, and Gina Maria Merrell of Union City, TN; two sons, Virgil Ray Humphrey of Ashland City, TN, and Anthony Gene (Missy) Brogdon of Rockvale, TN; one sister, Gertie Pauline Street of Ashland City, TN; three brothers, William Meadows of Walker, LA, Connie Mack Meadows of Southside, TN, and Bruce Meadows of Southside, TN; 24 grandchildren, Danielle Dawn Humphrey, Josh Humphrey, Rachel Zelling, Candy Salinas, Christie Osborne, Jessica Ellis, Tim Humphrey, Clayton Fugate, Jenny Deckard, Kristin Flitcroft, Franki Danyelle Flitcroft, Crystal Beech, Shandal Patton, Lindsey Brogdon, Jason Meadows, Jennifer Smithey, Shelly Murphy, Gary Murphy Jr., Tommy Baynes, Tiffany Crimmons, Kayla Spencer, Chelsea McMaster, James Merrell Jr., and Logan Brogdon; 58 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy D. Humphrey and Kenneth Ray Humphrey Brogdon; and five brothers, Tommy Meadows, J.W. Meadows, Phillip Meadows, Eddie Meadows, and Thomas Meadows, Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation will be Monday March 6, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and Tuesday March 7, 2017, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Rhodes officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Wood, Andy Salinas, Ray Humphrey, Clayton Fugate, David Deckard, Tommy Baynes, Jason Meadows, and Darrell Elkins.
Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
