Charles David Mathews

Charles David Mathews, age 61 of Paris, TN, died, Monday, March 27, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

He retired after many years as a correctional officer in Polk City, FL.  David loved the Lord and was a member of Bridge of Hope Church in Paris.  He was an excellent husband to his wife of almost 25 years.  He loved fishing and hunting.

David was born February 23, 1962, in Dade City, FL, to the late Victor Ray Mathews and the late Margaret Thompson Mathews.

He was married, May 2, 1998, to Debra Burch “Debbie” Mathews, who survives, of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by a sister, Vickie (David) Archie of Paris; a brother, Victor Wayne Mathews of Winter Haven, FL; one niece, Mindy (Masen) Barker of Mosheim, TN; two nephews, Carlin Monroe of MI, and Skylar Mathews of FL; and his stepson, Windle (Ashley) Hutchinson and his family of TN.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris, TN, with Eric Kelleher officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Archie, Jeff Archie, Cody Archie, Skylar Mathews, Windle Hutchinson, and Masen Barker.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Rose Lawn Memory Garden.
