Catherine "Kay" Schoenecker

Catherine L. Schoenecker, age 93 of Paris, TN, formerly of Midlothian, IL, died Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Charter Senior Living in Paris, TN.

Kay was a member of the Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Midlothian, IL. She worked many years in the scheduling department at the Oak Forest Hospital in Oak Forest, IL. In her younger years, Kay enjoyed bowling, gardening, golfing, and being a part of numerous civic clubs with her many friends, including the Red Hat Society. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Kay was married to Donald James Schoenecker who preceded her death.

Born April 6, 1932, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Frank Rio and the late Mary Marchese Rio.

She is survived by her two children, Susan (Amy Newman) Ventrice of Buchanan, TN; and James Donald (Nancy) Schoenecker of LaGrange, IL; a sister, Maryanne (Russell) Knaack of New Lenox, IL; a brother, Frank (Jan) Rio of CA; three grandchildren, Lucy Schoenecker, Heidi Schoenecker, and Phil (April) Ventrice; and two great grandchildren, John Ventrice, and Kami Ventrice.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Dominic Rio.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St./P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Her body is to be cremated with no local services planned. A memorial gathering and service will be held on May 2, 2025, at McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forrest, IL, 60452, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
