Carolyn Morgan Mobley, age 92 of Paris, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, at her residence.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church is Paris, where she was extremely fond of her “JOY” Sunday school class and LLL group. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Carolyn was a homemaker and an avid walker. She loved her nursing home ministry of visiting friends and church members and taking them Reese’s Peanut Butter cups to brighten their day.
Carolyn was born December 12, 1928, in Vardaman, MS, to the late Julian Earl Morgan and the late Margaret Inman Morgan.
She was married September 28, 1949, to Dr. Joe D. Mobley, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 18, 2010.
She is survived by four children, Dr. Joe Dick (Karolyn) Mobley of Paris, Carol (Joe) Boggess of Columbia, MS, Janie (Charles) Nash of Springville, TN, and Diana (Richard) Bevill of Buchanan, TN,; one sister, Elizabeth Browning of Louisville, KY; two brothers, Sam (Nancy) Morgan of Memphis, TN, and R.E. (Barbara) Morgan of Vicksburg, MS; one sister-in-law, Ann Morgan of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Tom Boggess, Bo Fowler, Jessica (Billy) Pugh, Amy (Tommy) Pettit, James (Samantha) Bevill, Leigh Ann (Brian) Horton, Dr. Joe D. Mobley, III, and Katherine (Alex) Armour; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Hayes, Roseanne Harmon, and Charlotte Morgan; one brother, Julian Earl Morgan, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Emily Fowler and Chris Mobley.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, with Dr. Trent Bullock officiating.
Carolyn’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family would like to give special appreciation to Carolyn’s caregivers, Dorothy Williams, CC Hutcherson, Cathy Washum, Susie Porter, and Carlene Shields.
