Brody Cruz Townsend, 9, Lakeland, Tennessee passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 3rd , 2022.

Brody was an avid athlete. From flag football, baseball, soccer, swimming, and running he did it all and was very competitive. He tried to do it all at the same time! He was a math whiz. He could do multiplication in his head and thoroughly enjoyed school. He never did anything slow and might get into trouble when he was supposed to walk and not run. Brody was a funny kid. Often telling funny jokes and his wit was very quick. His classmates and friends would often tell him he was the funniest kid they knew. He even went to school dressed as a joke book. His favorite foods were his dad’s tacos and grandpa’s fish.

Brody loved his family. During his hospital stays when the nurses would ask if he wanted anything, he would ask for his sister Taylor. He would always tell his parent’s “Kicking cancer’s butt is easy with parents like you”.

Brody is survived by his parents, Lindsey and Nicholas Townsend; his sister, Taylor Townsend all of Lakeland, Tennessee; maternal grandparents, Keith and Cindi Cheek of Springville, Tennessee; paternal grandparents, Sara Marbury Townsend of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Terry and Wanda Townsend of Huntingdon, Tennessee; his aunts, Bridget (Kevin) Murray of Evansville, Indiana, Tiffany (Steven) Nolen of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Suzanne (Mark) Wilkerson of Paris, Tennessee, Tera Townsend of Nashville, Tennessee; his uncle, Justin (Megan) Cheek of Paris, Tennessee; and his cousins, Tatum Nolen of Huntingdon, Tennessee, Jessica French, Avery Cheek both of Paris, Tennessee, and Connor French of Paris, Tennessee.

A private burial service will be held on Thursday. A visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, July 8th at Hope Church, 8500 Walnut Grove, Cordova, TN. The memorial service will follow at 2:00pm.
