Brenda Mathis Quinn, age 71 of Paris, TN, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
She was a former teacher in the New Madrid County School System in Missouri. She was Baptist and enjoyed reading and learning. Brenda graduated Valedictorian of Southeast Missouri State University with her master’s degree. She was a lifetime member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. She also belonged to the Missouri Association of school libraries and Delta Kappa Gamma International Martin Chapter (International Society for Womens Educators).
Brenda was born May 24, 1947 in Paris, TN to the late James Lloyd Mathis and the late Dathel Eulene Ownby Mathis.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (Wayne) Hughes of Paris, TN; one son, Russell (Laura) Quinn of Kimberly, AL; three sisters, Nancy (Ricky) Madden of Paris, TN, Trudi Telkamp of McKenzie, TN, and Karen Mathis of Dallas, TX; one brother, Dwayne (Jan) Mathis of Paris, TN; and seven grandchildren, Hannah (Daniel) Harris, Sarah Quinn, Ellen Quinn, Abigail Quinn, Mary Quinn, Alyssa Hughes, and Kate Hughes.
Besides her parents, Brenda was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Mathis.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 10 am – 12 pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 12:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with her son, Dr. Russell Quinn officiating.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Harris, Barry Mathis, Caleb Dunn, Liston Madden, Mike McSwain, and Michael Mason.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Garden.
