Bobby Gene Butler, age 76 of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in Lebanon, TN.
Bobby was dedicated to serving others in his pursuit of the healing arts priding himself in his beginnings at an early age caring for patients as an orderly at Henry County General Hospital ultimately becoming Comptroller of the same institution after graduating with a degree in business from Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee. He furthered his pursuit of his medical career by earning a degree as a registered nurse from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and subspecializing in oncology nursing at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Helping others was his legacy assisting and serving his family and friends as his lifelong mission until his death. Most importantly, his greatest calling was personally caring for his elderly parents until they preceded him in death. Bobby enjoyed fishing, and working outdoors, and loved spending time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews. He was a Christian by faith.
Bobby was born December 16, 1944, in Halls, TN, to the late Ivan H. Butler and the late June C. Welch Butler.
He is survived by his two sisters, Jan Berg of Clarksville, TN, and Cindy Shaffer of Lebanon, TN; his brother, Dr. Tom (Mary) Butler of Rosemary Beach, FL; nine nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews, and two on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ivan Butler.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 12 – 1:45 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, with Dan Armstrong officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Butler, Tommy Butler, Taylor Butler, John Butler, Kyle Schaffer, and Doug Austin.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
