Billy Wayne Smith, age 84 of Puryear, TN, died Saturday September 23, 2017 at Weakley County Rehab & Nursing Center in Dresden, TN.

Billy worked as a security guard for both Chrysler Motor Company and Sears in Michigan.  He retired as a truck driver from Gaines Manufacturing Company in McKenzie, TN.  He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, a Shriner, and a Korean War Army veteran.  He loved mowing lawns and gardening.

He was born April 20, 1933 in Gibson, TN, to the late Otis Smith and Winnie Patterson Smith.

He married Betty Jo Valentine Smith on December 23, 1956, and she resides at Paris Healthcare in Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Ann (Bob) Kaltz of Clarkston, MI; one son, Terry Wayne (Sally) Smith of Paris, TN; one brother, Johnny (Evelyn) Smith of Dresden, TN; two grandchildren, Ryan (Mallory) Kaltz and Amanda (Brent) Kulik; two great grandchildren, Drew Kaltz and Eli Kaltz; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Jo Smith in infancy; three sisters, Irene Lamb, Doris Clement, and Elizabeth Snow; and two brothers, O.C. Smith and Leon Smith.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday September 30, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00p.m.  The funeral service will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Evelyn Smith and Micheal Barnhart officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Kaltz, Mallory Kaltz, Brent Kulik, Amanda Kulik, Teddy Hill, Gordon Holley, and Charles Colley.   Johnny Smith will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Burial will follow in Birds Creek Cemetery the Whitlock community.
