Bill “B.J.” Wall, age 91 of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.
Mr. Wall graduated from Puryear High School in 1947. He completed a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from UT Knoxville in 1956 and a Master’s Degree in 1973. Bill began his career at McDonald Douglas Aircraft Corporation in 1957. He later joined Holley Carburetor in Paris, TN as a process engineer. He was Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Schrader Automotive Products in Dickson, TN for 15 years. Bill retired in 2000 after 22 years as Professor of Engineering Technology at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN.
Mr. Wall was a founding member of The American Institute of Industrial Engineers and was a Sr. member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was a life-long musician who had a passion for music, especially Bob Wills Texas Swing. He had a tremendous interest in genealogy and was a proud member of The Tennessee Society of The Sons of the American Revolution. Bill was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a former member of First Baptist Church in Dickson, TN.
Bill was born November 26, 1929, in Puryear, TN, to the late Alvis Milton Wall and Daisy Lavelle Gallimore Wall.
He was married July 22, 1961, to Shirley Redden Wall, who survives, of Murfreesboro, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Emily (Mitch) Mitchum of Erin, TN; and one son, William Jeffrey (Alicia) Wall of Winchester, TN. He has four granddaughters, Amy Mitchum, Laurel Wall, Liesal Wall, and Lyndsey Wall. Mr.Wall leaves behind many loving relatives, including sisters-in-law, Virginia Redden, and Karen Rice; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Peggy Wall Edmiston of Memphis, TN., also preceded him in death. (Peggy survived by husband, Wilbur Edmiston, and son, Peter).
Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling arrangements. A graveside service with military honors will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN, with David Allbritten officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mitch Mitchum, Kenny Snow, Doc Richardson, Dick Overby, Dickie Bomar, and Bill Harrel. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. R. S. Redditt and Dr. James Lorenz, John Morris, Richard Wall, John Wall, Butch Paschall and Danny Gallimore.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests mailing memorials to Alive Hospice, 1629 Williams Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
The family would like to give special thanks to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro, Dr. Benny Woods, Senior Adult Pastor at Lifepointe Church of Smyrna, TN, and Leslie Overby & Kendal Polk, (Bill’s physical therapist). Our special thanks are to all Bill’s doctors & nurses involved in his care, especially his caregivers, Melissa Elder and Bernice McInturff.
