Betty Jo Barton age 88 of Franklin, TN,  formerly of Paris, died Sunday March 27, 2016 at Rose Care Group Home in Nashville, Tennessee.

Betty was born was born on August 27, 1927, in Happy Valley, TN in the beautiful Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee to the late Wiley Boring and Nell Kegley Boring.

As a child Betty enjoyed helping her father in the general store. Betty graduated from Maryville High School in Maryville, TN.  Later she attended Business College and went to work for the University of Tennessee.  There she met and married her husband, Harrell Barton.  She attended First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN and retired from Watson’s Pharmacy in Paris as a Bookkeeper.  Betty cherished her close friends and bridge family. Betty Loved animals especially cats and rescued many cats over her life time.

She was married June 10, 1953 to Harrell Barton and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2004.  Betty is survived by two Daughters,  Meg (John) McGee of Franklin, TN and Elizabeth (Steve) Gass of Acworth, GA;  one Son,  Brad Barton of Buchanan, TN;  6 grandchildren,  Bruce Barton, Michelle Gass, Kaitlyn Gass, John McGee, David McGee and Ben McGee.

Beside her parents and husband,  Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Lambert and Helen Porter;  and two brothers, Jack Boring and William Boring.

Graveside services will be held on Friday April 1, 2016 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris at 3:00 p.m. with Brian Wimberley officiating.  No visitation is planned.   John McGee, Steve Gass, Brad Barton, and Ben McGee will serve as pallbearers.
