Benny “Red” Harris, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.
He retired after many years as a foreman with the Board of Public Utilities in Paris. Benny attended Foundry Hill Community of Christ in Puryear. He enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunting, loved coon hounds and was a former member of the Henry County Coon Club. He also enjoyed gardening.
Benny was born June 25, 1936, in Etowah, TN, to the late Alerd Harris and the late Wille Mae Evans Harris.
He was married December 5, 1968, to Kay VanCleave Harris, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Karen Harris and fiancé Eddie Anderson of Paris, TN; one stepdaughter, Kathy Dunlap (Kenny) Brewer of Paducah, KY; one stepson, Robert “Bubba” (Diana) Dunlap of Puryear, TN; two sisters, Patricia Bronson of Jacksonville, FL, and Ann Wallace of Jacksonville, FL; and several step grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one stepson, Richard “Box” Dunlap; one sister, Odean Green; and four brothers, J.R. Harris, Charles Ray Harris, Joe Harris, and Eugene Harris.
Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery in Puryear, TN, with Dale Gallimore officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tony Nance, Dwayne Craig, Lewis Clary, Cody Craig, Eddie Anderson, and Frankie Nance.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery.
