Ben L. Barth, Jr., age 84 of Buchanan, TN, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN.

After graduating at Central High School in Jackson, MS, Ben served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He worked for Bell Telephone Company until his retirement and then moved to Buchanan, TN.  Ben lived a life of service and faith. He was a member at St James United Methodist Church and a Scoutmaster in Memphis, TN. He was also active in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and served in many roles including 8th Eastern District Commodore. Ben’s hobbies included Ham radio, wood working and boating. He was happiest around water and working in his woodshop. After moving to Paris he became an active member at Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan, TN.

Ben was born February 6, 1933, in Lexington, MS, to the late Ben Lightfoot Barth, Sr., and the late Nan Jean Bryson Barth.

He was married January 25, 1958, to Eloise Marcia Shreve Barth, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by three daughters, Marcia (Jeff) Kintner of Northport, AL, Angela (Randy) McFall of Marion, AR, and Elizabeth (Waddell) Jackson of Southaven, MS; one son, Steven (Breanda) Barth of Dallas, GA; one brother, William Allen Barth of Cordova, TN; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Randy Lee.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Jerry Lee officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Randy McFall, Jeffrey Kintner, Bryant Kintner, Allen Barth, Jeff Green, Tony Willoughby, Chris Boane and Johnny Green,

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of Donor’s Choice.
