Barbara Lou Duncan Hilzley

Barbara Lou Duncan Hilzley, age 76 of Buchanan, TN, died Wednesday, February 26, 2019, at her residence in Buchanan, TN.

Barbara was born June 3, 1942, in Lowell, IN, to the late James Henry Duncan and the late Ruth Naomi Lewis Duncan.

She was married July 22, 1961, to her husband of 57 years, David A. Hilzley, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

She graduated from Lowell High School in Lowell, IN, class of 1960.  She went on to attend Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN, and entered a career in the secretarial field in Chicago, IL.  After marriage, Barbara traveled with her husband in the U.S. Air Force for seven years to bases in South Dakota and Florida.  They settled in Florida for 31 years after a 10-year period of time in Lowell, IN.  After retirement in 2007, she moved to Buchanan, TN.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, and was a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ in Springville.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Vickie L. (Ronald) Good of Buchanan, TN, and Kim D. Justice of Vero Beach, FL; one son, Mark A. Hilzley of Buchanan, TN; one brother, Bobby (Barbara) Duncan of Abilene, TX; one grandson, Drew (Kristina) Good of Dover, DE; and three great grandchildren, Logan Good, Karson Good, and Christopher Good.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Duncan Atkinson; and one brother, Bert Duncan.

Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242.  The body is to be cremated.  A Celebration of Life visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sulphur Well Church of Christ, 1760 Oak Grove Road S., Springville, TN 38256.   A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 11:00 am at Sulphur Well Church of Christ, with Randy Stephens and Bob Palmer officiating.
