Barbara Petty

January 30, 1940 — June 1, 2020

Barbara Katherine Petty, age 80, of Paris, TN, died Monday, June 1, 2020, at AHC of Paris.

She retired after working many years at Henry County Medical Center as a switch board operator. Barbara enjoyed her flowers and grandchildren. She was very proud of both of her sons’ public service work, Scott, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer after 30 years of service in the US Coast Guard, and Walt, with 24 years of service at the Paris Fire Department.

Barbara was born January 30, 1940 in Galva, IL, to the late Earl Elliott and the late Bernice Else Elliott.

She was married August 14, 1960, to Walter J. Petty, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Walter E. “Walt” (Sara) Petty of Paris, TN, and Scott E. (Kathy) Petty of Hayes, VA; one sister, Marlene (Dearold) Merriman of O’ Fallon, IL; seven grandchildren, Brandon Petty, Lauren Petty, Elizabeth (Matthew) McCrory, Marshall (Rachel) Petty, Taylor Faith Petty, Blake (Jessica) Ward, and Matthew Ward; and four great grandchildren, Lane McCrory, Tripp McCrory, Nora McCrory and Sophie Petty.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Allen Elliott.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38342. A private graveside service will be held at Clover Chapel Cemetery in Woodhull, IL.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Clover Chapel Cemetery.
