Ann Smith Mathis, age 87, of Paris, Tenn., died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn.
Ann was married September 14, 2009 to James Mathis and he preceded in death September 23, 2010.
She was a former member of St. Lukes Methodist Church in Memphis where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a former member and officer in Beta Sigma Phi in Memphis and was a Volunteer usher at the Orpheum. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris. She formerly worked at Holley Carburetor Plant and Commercial Bank. Also she formerly worked at Novarese Brothers in Memphis and retired from Auto Zone in Memphis. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, Needlepoint, and crossword puzzles.
She was Born March 1, 1927 in Springville, TN to the late Johnie Thomas Smith and the late Juliet Doty Smith.
She is survived by her Three Sisters, Barbara (Lemuel) Muzzall of Paris, Tenn, Diana (Edward) Clement of Jackson, Tenn, Marilyn Townsend of McKenzie, Tenn; Sister-in-law, Crystel Smith; Special Niece, Gail (Alex) Bomar of Paris, TN; Several Nieces and Nephews, Several Great Nieces and Nephews, Several Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
Besides her Husband and Parents, she was also preceded in death by, Sister, Jeanette Reese; Brothers, John Thomas Smith, and Lucian Smith.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm Saturday, January 10, 2015. The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015.
Dr. Robert D. Martin will officiate. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery near Springville, Tenn.
