The funeral service for retired Paris police officer Andrew Mitchell “Andy” Bass of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
James “Sonny” Poe will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be active and retired officers of the Paris Police Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Bass, 63, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center.
His wife, Joyce Lipford Bass, survives. They were married on Feb. 27, 1969.
Born April 27, 1950, in Paris, he was a son of Harold Nolan Bass Sr. and Allie Ozane Moody Bass of Paris.
Bass was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Formerly employed with the Sheriff’s Department, Bass retired in April 2012 from the Paris Police Department as an evidence officer. His wife said he was an avid gas station and Coca-Cola memorabilia collector and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He also leaves one daughter: Lisa (Travis) Ashley of Paris; two sons: Dennis (Amanda) Bass of Oakland and Donnie (Jennifer) Bass of Paris; one sister: Melody (Randy) Long of Paris; two brothers: Harold Bass Jr. of Henry and Bobby (Jamie) Bass of Henderson; and seven grandchildren: Garrett and Hayden Bass, Jameson Hancock, Dylan Winters and Willow, Trent and Grant Ashley .
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Stacy Ann Bass; and a sister-in-law: Mary Jane Bomar Bass.
