Ancel R. McDuffee, age 89 of Paris, died Friday, November 13, 2020, in Paris.
Ancel was a retired Special Agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation where he had served 25 years. He was a Korean War Veteran, who served in the US Navy. He was a 60-year member of the Paris Masonic Lodge 108, where he had previously served as Past Master. Other clubs he belonged to were the American Legion Post 94, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Elks. Ancel previously served on the City of Paris Alcohol Control Board. He had formerly served as the President of Henry County Democratic Party. In the 1990’s, the late Governor Ned Ray McWherter appointed him to the Board of Paroles. He enjoyed volunteering his time with Henry County Helping Hand and was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church and its Men’s Bible Class.
He was married June 12, 1971, to Carol McDaniel McDuffee, who survives of Paris.
Born September 9, 1931, in Macon County, TN, he was the son of the late Carly Taplin McDuffee and the late Carrie Mathis McDuffee.
Along with his wife, he is survived by daughters, Diane (Jason) McCord, and Alane Paschall, both of Paris; step-daughter, Roxanne Diggs (Mark) Taylor of Paris; sister, Henrietta McDonald of FL; grandchildren, Colin (Laiken) Paschall, Miranda (Lee) Rial, Ancel Cameron McCord, and Conner Thomas McCord; great grandchild, Emersyn Rial; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Crook, his mother in law, Montez McDaniel Jackson; and a son in law, Rick Paschall.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 2:30 pm at the Maplewood Cemetery with Jerry Massey and Trent Bullock officiating.
Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Ancel McCord, Connor McCord, Colin Paschall, Mac Crook, Greg Crook, and Mark Taylor. Jason McCord and Lee Rial are named as honorary pallbearers.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Paris.
Memorials may be made to the Kentucky Lake Chapter 17 of the Fraternal Order of Police, P.O. Box 755, Paris, TN 38242.
At the family’s request masks must be worn and social distancing observed at the graveside service.
