Alvin Lawrence “Al” Carroll, age 85, of Springville, Tenn., died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn.

Alvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy serving from 1948-1956.  He worked as a furniture refinisher for many years for Colony House in Arlington, VA and then was a self-employed refinisher.   Alvin was a member of Springville Church of Christ.  He was an Honorary Firefighter and Board Member of the Springville Volunteer Fire Dept for 21 years.  Alvin enjoyed his flowers, his dogs, his horse and spending time at home and outdoors with his family.

He was born June 7, 1930 in Washington D.C. to the late Alvin Lawrence Carroll and the late Edna Cutchall Carroll.

Alvin was married on October 20, 1962 to Leah Guest Carroll and she survives.  He is also survived by his two Daughters,  Holly Charland of Springville, Tenn, and Laini (John) Kelley of College Park, Md;  Granddaughter,  Maeghan Charland of North Beach, MD;  Grandson,  Samuel Kelley of College Park, MD; and Several Cousins.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a Sister, JoAnne Carroll DeFrawi.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  He is to be cremated.

A Memorial Service will be held outside at the family Residence at 1575 Poplar Grove Rd., Springville, TN  38256 at  6:00 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2016.   Charles T. Cate and Joe Cate will conduct the service.  A Firefighters Last Call and Military Honors will also be conducted.
