Ace Rowland, age 78 of Springville, TN, died Monday, November 5, 2018, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.
He worked at the National Can Corporation in Clearing, IL., as a die setter for 30 years. He retired in 1987 and moved to Paris where he started Ace’s Chicago Style Pizza on June 19, 1990. Ace was the first person inducted into the Saint Gabriel School Hall of Fame in the Caneryville community of Chicago, IL, where he was a faithful football, baseball, and track coach, and where he helped countless kids in many ways. He coached Little League baseball and anything his kids were involved in. He loved all sports, the Chicago Bears, Tennessee Volunteers, and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris. Ace was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, a great provider, never met a stranger, and was well loved by so many.
Ace was born December 9, 1939, in Fowlkes, TN, to the late Walter Romace Rowland and the late Mildred Lucille Baker Tinkle.
He was married May 3, 1980, to Debbie Reed Rowland, who survives, of Springville, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Andrea Haepp of Springville, TN, and Lisa Weaver of Tampa, FL; two sons, Wayne Rowland of Paris, TN, and Mark (Selina) Rowland of Benton, KY; three sisters, Linda (Jerry) Cowles of Memphis, TN, Janice (Larry) Shelton of Memphis, TN, and Sharon (David) Titsworth of Illinois; one brother, David (Beverly) Tinkle of Dyersburg, TN; one sister-in-law, Lea Rowland of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Max Rowland.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church, 7050 Highway 69 S, Paris, TN 38242. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 1:00 pm at New Harmony Baptist Church, with Chris Downing and Charles Cate officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shaun Rowland, Landon Rowland, Bob Haepp, Brad Haepp, Sammy Sadler, and Jamie Reed. Named as honorary pallbearers are Joel Crossno and Jason McCord.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
