Sonny Melton

James Sonny Melton, age 29, of Big Sandy, TN, died Sunday October 1, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.
Sonny graduated from Big Sandy High School and then from UT Martin with a business and finance degree. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Union University in Jackson, TN. He was employed as a registered nurse at Henry County Medical Center. Sonny was an avid duck hunter, and enjoyed waterskiing and any other water sport. He loved going to concerts and spending time with his family.
Sonny was born August 12, 1988 in Jackson, TN to Susan Clayton Melton of Big Sandy, TN and James Warren (Janie) Melton of Big Sandy, TN.
He was married on June 30, 2016 to Heather Gulish Melton of Big Sandy, TN. In addition to his wife, and parents, Sonny is also survived by two step daughters, Alexa Gladwell and Serena Gladwell of Big Sandy, TN; one step son, Ryan Gladwell of Big Sandy, TN; one brother, Jacob Warren (Katie) Melton of Maumelle, AR; grandmother, Lura Dean Clayton of Big Sandy, TN; one niece, Lyla Melton; two nephews, Ezra and Ezekiel Melton; two aunts, Donna Clayton (Richard) Plumley, and Jane Ann Melton (Larry) Waters; five cousins, Amanda Plumley (Joey) Barbarito, Clay Plumley, Doug Plumley, Jeanie Lynn (Mike) Rogers, and Jenny Lea (Dan) Joyner;
Additional survivors are his in-laws, Gene and Christina Gulish of Paris, TN; sister-in-laws, Erin Gulish, and Laurel (Brad) Beckham; brother-in-laws, Jesse (Kesha) Gulish, and Kris (Amby) Gulish; and nieces and nephews, Thatcher Gulish, Avery and Brady Beckham, Savannah, Maverick and Wesson Gulish, and Gatlin Gulish.
Sonny was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Lloyd Wayne Clayton; and paternal grandparents, Warren G. and Jean Melton.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.
Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017 at Big Sandy School in Big Sandy, TN from 2 - 8 pm and Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 11 am - 1pm with the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Big Sandy School with Bro. Greg Brewer officiating. A nurses final farewell will be held as part of the service.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Melton, Kris Gulish, Jesse Gulish, Lance Matney, Ryan Gladwell, Clay Plumley, Matt Belyew, and Dennis Garcia.
A private burial is to be held.
