Betty Jean Thompson

Betty Jean Thompson, age 85 of Buchanan, TN, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at her residence in Buchanan, TN.

She retired after several years working as a nurse at Murray-Calloway County Hospital and for Dr. Quertermous.  She was a member of New Liberty Church of Christ.

Betty Jean was born August 4, 1932, in Buchanan, TN, to the late Leonard Virgil Clayton and the late Vela Gray Lamb Clayton.

She was married May 19, 1949, to Charles H. Thompson, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2009.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Doug) Jackson of Buchanan, TN, and Patty Thompson of Buchanan, TN; one sister, Joyce Ballentine of Humboldt, TN; one brother, Pete Clayton of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Eric (Kim) Jackson of Buchanan, TN, and Emily (John) Broomfleet of Buchanan, TN; and six great grandchildren, Katie Broomfleet, Zayne Broomfleet, Tori Jackson, Adyson Broomfleet, Carly Jackson, and Jocee Jackson.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and continue Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with John Dale officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Thompson, Kerry Thompson, Trent Thompson, Mike Pflueger, Pat Stacey, and David Lassiter.

Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery in Buchanan, TN.
